Empowering Women & Elevating Communities in Mondulkiri
How sustainable agricultural practices and fair contracts sustain 84 family members across 21 households in the highland forests of Cambodia.
In the vibrant highland region of Mondulkiri, agricultural progress is measured not just in yields or export volumes, but in the strength and resilience of local communities. Since MOPAC's establishment in 2017, empowering local farming households—and specifically women leaders—has been central to our cooperative vision.
Highland organic pepper farming requires meticulous care, deep knowledge of local microclimates, and sustainable soil stewardship. By securing reliable long-term farming contracts with global export partners, MOPAC transforms market uncertainty into economic stability for 21 local households, directly uplifting 84 family members.
Women represent over 45% of MOPAC’s total membership and hold key operational and decision-making roles within our management committee. From managing organic compost production and micro-irrigation systems to overseeing quality assurance during harvest season, women’s expertise directly shapes our farm-to-export standards.
As we prepare for international exhibitions such as Biofach and the International Pepper Community (IPC) conference, our commitment remains anchored in Mondulkiri. Climate-smart techniques like rainwater harvesting, zero-pesticide pest control, and red basaltic soil preservation ensure that every grain of MOPAC organic pepper reflects true ecological balance.
